Before the wash, paint inside covers in red. I attached the handle with masking tape and apply Maskol for the gray painted surface to avoid splashing. I mixed Mr.Color Gloss Red with Flat Base.

After air-brushing, touch up the edge of the cover with Tamiya acrylic paint.

Let's wash! I thinned Tamiya's enamel black with Tamiya' enamel thinner as the ratio of 1:10. Apply it along with the panel lines with brush.

After 10 minutes, dip a cotton swab into Tamiya's enamel thinner and then remove excess black by rubbing.

The result of the wash. Now panel lines and rivets are more clearly and got nice natural weathering effect.

You can see the difference in this picture. Wash was applied right half of the plane.
Before
After.

You can see some oil stain streams here and above photo. I draw them by hand after the wash, and then slightly rub with a cotton swab with thinner.
I got lots of questions regarding "wash" and "Mr. Color" from all over the world. Here is the answer.

I use Tamiya "enamel" black paint for wash. I thin it with Tamiya enamel thinner at the ratio 1:10.

Some points are;

-spray "primer" before base painting. It makes paint settled on the surface.
-choose "lacquer" paint for base paint. it's very tough. Gunze's Mr. Color is the lacquer. If you can not get Mr. Color, alternative is "acrylic". Gunze's Mr. Hobby and Tamiya Color are the acrylic. But don't forget that the lacquer is the best.
-use "enamel" paint for wash. I use Tamiya Enamel Color ( small cube jar ). you can use Model Master instead.
-before apply wash, sand the paint surface with # 2000 sand paper. It avoids enamel from eroding base paint.

You can import Mr.color from here. Please mention my name & this page to them
