いよいよ塗装の開始。イエロータイガーの下塗りはマホガニー。エナメルによるウエザリングを考えると、ラッカーであるMr.カラーがベスト。なければ、アクリル系でもOK。

It's just about time to start on the paint job. The base coat of a yellow Tiger is mahogany. If we consider enamels for weathering, then Mr. Color laquers are ideal for the paint coats. If not available, acrylics will do fine too.
ラッカーペイントのスプレイにはガスマスクが必須。無ければシンナー中毒間違いなし！さらに私はテスターのスプレイブースで完全防御している。

When spraying laquers, a gas mask is a must. Otherwise, you will suffer from thinner poisoning, no question about it. I further use a Testors spray booth for maximum protection.
下塗りに使用するハンドピースはタミヤのダブルアクションHG。広範囲を一気に吹いて作業効率アップ。

I use a Tamiya double-action HG airbrush for the base coat painting. With a wide coverage, the painting of the base coat becomes very efficient.
あまり近づけずに、厚塗りは避ける。10cm程度離すのが適当。ラッカーペイントの薄め具合はペイント1に対してシンナー1としている。あまり濃いとハンドピースが詰まってうまく塗れない。

Don't approach too close, to avoid thick layers of paint. A distance of 10cm is about right. With lacquer paint, the thinning ratio is about 1:1. If you make the mixture too thick, the airbrush nozzle will clog and you won't obtain a good finish.
まっ茶色にくまなく。

The wheels come out like little chocolates!
黄色にはMr.カラー39番のダークイエローに少し白を混ぜたものを使う。

For the yellow, let's use Mr. Color 39 with a dash of white to lighten it.
細かい塗装になるので、ハンドピースは細吹きができるタミヤのスーパーファインHGを使う。

For detailed spray work, I use a Tamiya Super Fine HG.
コツはマホガニーを完全に消さないよう、淵をうっすらと見えるように黄色を吹き付ける。写真の赤矢印に沿ってぐるぐると3-4周吹き付ける。

The trick is not to obscure the mahogany completely. Spray the yellow as though creating a pool(sorry Masa, I don't follow the 'fuchi wo ussura to mieru you ni...'.), following the direction of the red arrow in the photograph to complete 3-4 circles.

車体下部はこのように縦方向にムラを出す。

Create some unevenness in the coating on the lower chassis like this.
基本は上から下方向に吹き付けること。これにより、雨だれの表現ができる。

The vehicle is painted in a direction from the top downwards. Using this style, the effect of rain stains can be simulated.
このような部分は赤線に沿って吹くと良い。

For objects like these, spraying in the directions indicated by the arrows creates a nice effect.
ボルトからのさびなどもマホガニーのムラで表現。

The rust stains from bots and so on can also be depicted with irregular mahogany coverage.
