ドライブラッシング。今回ハンブロールを初めて使ってみた。ブラシにハブロール７2番を少しつけ、ティッシュで擦り取り、30数えてから、ドライブラシする。やり過ぎる前にやめよう。

DRY BRUSHING. I used Humbrol for the first time for dry-brushing. Put very small amount of Humbrol No.72 on a flat brush, rub away the excess paint on some tissue paper, count to 30, then gently dry-brush. Stop dry-brushing just before you feel it's about right!?

これも初めての試み。はげチョロ、またの名をチッピング。
色は3色混合。やってみると以外に難しい。形がすべてである。所有の文献をすべてひっくり返し、インターネットも探し、チッピングの自然な形をいっぱい見てからはじめた。

CHIPPED PAINT. This is my first trial of the effect of chipped paint. I mixed 3 enamels, flat black, German gray and flat brown. It's pretty difficult! The correct shape is the main problem. I checked all my literature and used the Internet to study some natural shapes of chipped paint on AFVs.

How about this for the result?
2色を混合し、おもいっきり薄めて全体をオーバースプレイする。フィルターがかかったようになり、色調の統一とスケール感がでる。ちなみに完成写真のフィギュアはオーバースプレイ前の状態であり、戦車と一体感がない。今はオーバースプレイされている。

FADING EFFECT. Airbrush a very thinned neutral color all over the tank for a faded effect. I mixed 2 enamels, Neutral gray and Buff. By the way, the figure model shown here is pre-faded. So it seems not match this tank. Now faded

ちょっとかすみがかかった感じとなる。

It looks very natural.
そして、フラットスプレイでつやを統一。このグンゼのスパークリアーはラッカータイプなので、一部のデカールやまだ乾いていないエナメルや水生ペイントに悪影響が出るので注意。

Overcoat flat clear. This is Gunze Mr. Super Clear Flat to achieve a very nice flat finish. However, it's lacquer based, so it could damage some types of decals or enamel or acrylic paints that have not dried properly.
パステルでさび、雨だれ、オイル汚れなどを行う。またキャタピラにも砂色に混ぜたパステルをふりかけている。

Use pastel for rust, rain marks and oil stains. Ground pastel chalks with a sieve or a piece of sandpaper. Then pour the pastel powder onto a mixing tray. I mixed some colors to make dirt for the tracks.
灰色部分に赤錆の汚れが見えるでしょうか。キャタピラには砂がまとわりついているように。

Red rust on the gray part. Realistic dirt between tracks.
マズルブレーキと排気管の先端にスートをスプレイ。

Airbrush Mr. Hobby No.343 soot onto the muzzle brake and exhaust pipes.
シルバーでアクセント。タミヤのペイントマーカーのぎらつきは最高。

After the soot is applied, dry-brush Tamiya's Paint Maker's silver around the muzzle ring.
ペリスコープはファインモールドの1/35スケールのものを流用。

I used Fine Molds 1/35 scale periscopes.
後ろに銀紙をはり、表面はグリーンとブルーのクリアを筆塗り。

Put silver sheet on the back, paint clear green on the front.
